Lookong for advice

when I (23F) met my current partner (25F) they told me they were asexual and we decided mutually that we would try being together, and to just communicate how we are both feeling about our non sexual romantic relationship. I have been sexually active in the past and do not identify with asexullity. We have been together for over a year and I have since said I would like a sexual relationship and they have confessed the same to me. But I have a hard time believing them, they have religious trama and well as sexual abuse trama. Im trying to be patient and understanding but I am struggling to answer some of their questions. one in particular is that they keep asking me how many times a month I would want to be sexual. I dont have an estimated answer, my day to day life and feelings change so much I can't say id want to have sexual intimacy one a month and have that be accurate. my personal sex drive is up and down, sometimes im really into it and sometimes I want nothing to do with it and it doesn't follow a pattern its just random. im having a hard time believing they actually want to be intimate.. are they just saying they do because they dont want to break up? I am looking for thoughts of other sexual people maybe they can give me some insight.
