My ex wrote this poem about me in the school publication
"
gazing in the past
watching it become fuzzy,
lose, incomprehensible
pieces that don't quite
lock together
so much of time
locked in thoughts
as the world blurred by
it's my necessity not knowledge that
what happened was there.
i hold onto
that broken window into time
or else
a tangle of lies and false reality
stole my life.
kissing silent air;
heartbeats i must remove from
my sweaty hand, walking,
wondering,
running away and drawn back.
smiling covering a locked
heart and
words escaping
clawing bones,
gripless.
gone.
can't piece back together
can't slow down my heart
can't run away
i hold on;
smile through;
say "thank you."
keep it, keep it.
promise myself it
wasn't broken from the start.
now i look back, wondering if
all those smiles were real.
scared that my heart my head could
be so out of touch.
so naive.
scared.
scared
i lost myself;
flashlight couldn't work in the dark
or i simply kept it off.
hold on.
i hold on.
believe i was
happy.
believe i
loved.
believe i don't lie to myself like that
assure myself that
my heart and
my head
stay firm inside of me.
believe i stand for myself.
please let me know i can
do what i want.
please show me
i can say what i want to say.
that am i not just malleable clay
folded by time and correction
breathe, now, just breathe.
in out
in out
in out
i'm here.
in out
i'm here.
in. out.
i must be here-
in...
out
"
I don't really know what to think or do about it. I don't know if she published it in the school publication so I would read it, or if she intended that I read it. I have no idea. Anyways, I just don't know what to make of this. I don't want her to think I never loved her or think that falling in love with me was naive, but I don't know what to do. Thanks in advance for your help.
