With my previous post, someone suggested uploading full sized JPEGs we one could observe any benefits from using a Monochrome camera. So a couple of hours ago, I took it out for a spin at a local hawker center (street food).

Before trying the GR yesterday, I often shoot at night with my Sony Alpha cameras. In order to get clean and crisp pictures, I would often shoot wide open with large aperture primes. After a couple of years of doing that, I often feel that the pictures I make lacks some oomph or depth (figuratively and literally).

Using the GR for my night shoots today made it clear that it is THE dream camera for street photography. Taking more time to compose the frame. Pushing the camera much closer than I would normally do. The small size makes the camera much less intimidating for others.

The monochrome sensor was the cherry on top for the type of photos I would normally get at night. If it could talk, it would literally be begging to be pushed to crazy ISOs because the 'noise' doesn't really seem noisy at all.

Photos are lightly edited and cropped with Lightroom. Some photos have grain added in (those taken at lower ISOs and longer shutters). No AI noise reduction was used.
