Question about laundry unit

idk where else to ask this. i moved and now have a stacked washer&drier unit. they do not unstack, its one thing. but the electrical cord doesnt reach to the outlet. the installers told me i need to get a longer electrical chord and have them swapped out. but i am wondering if i could just get a longer exhaust tube foe the drier ventilation instead? the electrical outlet is on the opposing end from the exhaust exit of the small room. its more affordable and easier. i personally dont think it would be an issue. but the guys eho dropped it off are swearing i have to do the electric chord. thanks!!
