Is Ocean back to square one, or just resetting?
Ocean’s been a big name in decentralized data and AI infra for a long time. Long before “AI x crypto” became the default narrative, they were already working on data access, privacy-preserving compute, and orchestration. Quiet builders, not a hype project.
That’s why the ASI partnership made sense at the time. Ocean brought real infrastructure to the table, not just branding. But eventually they stepped away from ASI, which felt less like a failure and more like a decision to fully control their own roadmap again.
Now Ocean Network is relaunching with a clear rollout plan and a public countdown. What’s different this time is the positioning: compute-first, real usage gating, and a token model where OCEAN is bought on the market instead of being merged or redistributed through alliances.
So the question is, is this back to square one? Or is it more like starting a new chapter with years of infra already built, but fewer compromises this time?
Curious how others interpret this move.
