Traveling to Toronto in June

Hi! Any good resources about things to do or places to visit in Toronto? My spouse and I are planning on coming to Canada for the first time, and I'm having a hard time up to date info.

And this may be a stupid question, but somebody who travels around a lot told my spouse recently that Toronto isn't safe (well, they told her streets are full of junkies...) so I wanted ask how is the situation in Toronto?
