Anyone seen a battery fail like this?

When all the modules go to sleep the battery voltage drops to around 3.5v.

As soon as a door is opened the voltage returns to 12v and the car still starts, although sluggish to start.

In all my years I have never came across this before so what do you guys reckon is going on here?

Dead or dying cells that come back to life when current flows?
