What's the next machine to get? [up to $1,200]

Buying Advice Needed

I currently have a Rancilio Silvia (probably from ’02–’05) that I bought used on Facebook Marketplace. I’ve been using it several times a week for the past couple of years, paired with my Niche Grinder, mostly to make cappuccinos for my wife and me.

My typical workflow: I let the machine warm up for about 20 minutes, pull two shots back-to-back, and then switch to steam mode. From the time I flip the steam switch to when it’s actually ready to steam properly, it takes about 7 minutes. During that time I’m prepping the milk, but the wait still feels pretty long. Once it’s ready, I steam milk separately for each drink.

I’m starting to look for an upgrade and wondering what would be a good step up from the Silvia. My main goal is a faster transition from brewing to steaming. I’m fine waiting a minute or two, but 7 minutes feels excessive. I don’t necessarily need a dual boiler unless it’s truly a game changer.

Any Suggestions?
