Breaking up after being drained
Met an amazing woman about 7 months ago, everything went super smooth from the start. Amazing chemistry, conversation and no friction at all. It seemed like everything aligned perfectly.
A few months in she suddenly shifted completely, one day she started randomly crying but saying she wasn’t sad (?) and refusing to tell me why. This was the first red flag and something seemed off.
The day after the date she said I was amazing for staying and she apologized for how it went, this is the first and only time she actually apologized for anything.
She said I was the only one who understood her and she’d never could’ve imagined meeting someone like me.
Things seemed amazing but she’d be cold and distant more often. Small ‘mistakes’ I made would be met with an increasingly disrespectful attitude and tone.
Weird situations like she suddenly would walk unusually fast and then get angry if I didn’t walk fast enough. Or slowing down and then saying I walked too quick? This started happening with almost everything, if you can imagine it, she started criticizing it.
At first I just ignored it but eventually she’d find things that would make me think I actually did something wrong. This is where the apologies started, I’d start explaining and apologizing for all kinds of things.
Slowly she started replying less and canceling plans a lot because she was ‘sick’. I started thinking she had someone else but never brought it up.
She also slept a lot, even during our days together she’d always need to sleep for hours. Not sure if that is relevant but I’ve never seen anyone need so much rest before.
Her disrespect towards me became increasingly intense and a few weeks ago, she exploded in anger over text when she started sending me messages like ‘you never call me’, ‘you never message me’, ‘ you neglect me’, I re-assured her and said ‘Relax, we’re both busy, it happens’.
For context, I messaged her daily and would spend hours checking my phone waiting for her response (as she’d been delaying responses for 6-12 hours)
She then mentioned that it was ‘obviously a joke’ and I shouldn’t ever tell her to relax. I replied that I was happy to hear it was just a joke, and said I thought she went crazy lol (as a joke)
This is when she became the angriest I’ve ever seen her before. Long story short it ended up with me apologizing again.
The constant walking on eggshells drained me, a few months in I started having sleep issues, ruminating over replies, gut feelings (actually went to the doctor as I thought there was something wrong with my stomach) and random panic attacks.
Eventually I made the choice to break things off as I couldn’t bear it anymore and rather be single. This has led to the last 2 weeks, where she constantly blames me and said I need to change. Everything is all my fault and she literally says she didn’t do anything wrong and that I’ve never said sorry before (which I did dozens of times).
I spoke to a psychologist friend and they mentioned BPD, I looked it up and think the above might have some of the signs? I blocked her after we tried getting back together but she kept blaming me, but she found another way to contact me (which I didn’t understand).
I’ve blocked her everywhere and NC now, reading the stories here I see a lot of similarities. Part of me still really wants to be with her, but I know it’s not healthy.
