5-year gap after BTech, struggling with placements – need advice

Hi everyone,

Posting here with my qualifications for context. I completed my BTech in 2019. After that, I had a 5-year gap due to personal reasons. I joined MTech in 2024 and will be graduating this year.

I’ve been trying for placements, but the gap keeps becoming a big issue. Most IT service companies are not considering my profile because of it. Product companies are mostly offering internships instead of full-time roles.

I’m honestly feeling stuck. I’m thinking about doing a PhD since I’m interested in research and can work towards publishing papers. But I also have an education loan and need to start earning soon. I’m worried about financial stability during a PhD as well.

I’m also considering preparing for UGC NET, but I’m not sure if that’s the right decision.

Would really appreciate practical advice. Thank you.
