Sobriety is starting to scare me. I don't think I belong around my old friends.
I'm a pretty chill guy and try not to judge others. But I i have been cutting back on alcohol a LOT this year. I think I have had four drinks total. I have not had anything for 30 days partly because I had a nasty sinus infection I needed to kick.
But in my sobriety I have noticed some of the conversations I have had with my former friends. They have really bad adhd or can't really engage in conversation besides something surface level. If we do talk about anything its random friend drama or bar drama. It is either very bland or full of immoral gossip from crappy people.
I try not to judge others for what they are going through and how they handle things...but I dont enjoy the people that they are when they are drunk. It makes me wonder if its the alcohol talking and masking who they really are. Personally I KNOW Im a way better more rational person when I dont drink. But my old alcoholic friends just .....disgust me. I want to find a way to see them as human but not drink with them. Maybe I just need to just move forward with life.
