AI will eventually prove capitalism fails.
Ive yet to seen a satisfactory counter to this. Once they refine AI systems to be as intelligent as a human, at least in the ways that make it useful for every human task, they will mass produce them and replace human workers.
Why would any employer want to pay 30k for an employee every year when it guy buy the NEO or Tesla Optimus and own it forever for the same price? (and yes those robots do currently cost 20-40k). All employers will switch, and those that dont will be at a huge price disadvantage.
This would lead to mass unemployment, collapse of many businesses, restructuring of the economy, and the end consumers who are simply not needed anymore, are disregarded. We will be reduced to 18th century living conditions, growing vegetables in our backyards just to survive; While the rich and elites live in luxury.
Whats the capitalist solution to this supposed to be?!?
Ive heard someone mention "we could own our own robots", okay, but assuming you can pay the price... then what? Simply having a robot doesnt magically make you money. You need capital, a business model, customers... What are you going to do, mine for minerals in your backyard, have the robot dig them out with a shovel?!? If that does work, we are still talking about 300 years of technological progress for us reset as we try to recreate the modern economy in a more fair way. But why wouldnt history repeat, with centralization of industries?
Theres no way around it; The kind of freedom we enjoy now only exists because we are useful to the rich elite. Once that goes away, we are done. Capitalism wont serve us anymore. Human workers wont be needed anymore if robots can do it all cheaper.
I think the socialists are finally right about something. The only way to continue "this system" is something like a universal basic income.Or variations of the idea, maybe people have to do some sort of useless work, or prove worth or lack of criminality, etc...
Now i still dont believe in government, and i never will, so figuring out a way to do a voluntary UBI is an important issue we got to start thinking about. Maybe we wont be able to hsve it unless we can move past the "selfish" barrier to human nature. Maybe we all need to start creating cooperations and collectives with decentralized ownership, and break free of the centralized capitalist business model. It would seem like thats swimming upstream however, but if we dont do it now the opportunity might go away later.
If we could get robots to work *for us* and not just the rich... Thatd be a dream come true. We could end up in a future where we dont have to work, AT ALL. Itd be the beginning of a Star Trek style economy. But i think that requires abandoning capitalism as a concept.
