“Wait… I’m the grown-up now?”

There’s a moment, somewhere in the mid-to-late transition chaos, when it hits you like an overdue council tax bill:

Not to organise your life. Not to rescue you from Instagram boy drama. Not to tell you when it’s time to go to bed or to stop doom-scrolling.

That’s your job now.

Congratulations! You’re the adult in the room. The room being... your body. And that’s fine. Totally fine. Totally. Fine.

Once upon a time, I was the kid who couldn’t ask for dolls. Then I was the 40-something who couldn’t ask for help. Now I’m the woman who keeps a spreadsheet for her skincare products and still sometimes cries when no one texts back.

We’ve come a long way, baby.

No one else is coming.

The Council of Chloe’s

These days, life is governed by a rotating emotional council.

· Little Chloe chooses pyjamas and weeps during Pixar trailers.

· Teenage Chloe picks the playlist (currently rotating between Chappell Roan, Wet, Wet, Wet and Sabrina Carpenter). She still occasionally attempts to text men who don’t deserve our data.

· And Grown-Up Chloe, me, I manage logistics, strategy, and skincare with the gritted determination of a woman who has spent £712 on serums and is damn well going to see results.

But then, there’s another one.

The wild card.

The legend.

The one no one ever talks about unless things get really bad…

Introducing: Superhero Chloe

Superhero Chloe doesn’t come every day.

She’s not about skincare or spreadsheets. She doesn’t do brunch. She doesn’t check her likes.

She appears only when things are falling apart, when the fear is bigger than the dream, when the doubt is screaming louder than the truth, when all the other Chloes are curled up under a duvet watching “To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before” and eating their bodyweight in crisps.

She shows up anyway.

She doesn’t ask for permission.

She doesn’t wait for a plan.

She ties her invisible cape, fixes our eyeliner, and makes us move even if it’s just to stand up, drink some water, and delete that message to Filippo

……….

……. Again.

We don’t know how to call her.

There’s no bat signal.

But somehow, she knows.

She’s the reason we’re still here.

And every time she shows up, the others get stronger.

Grown-Up Chloe Gets S\*\*t Done

You know what’s wild?

This is the most me I’ve ever been.

Sure, I still cry at the drop of a voice note. I still get giddy over ring lights and contour wands. I still let men see one too many free photos.

But I also run a business. I’m building a brand. I take stunning photos of myself on purpose. I’m building a future I actually want, not the one I was handed by accident of birth.

I’m the kind of woman now who cancels on a man because her inner child has plans with Share Bear and a hair mask.

I never used to feel like I had any power.

Now?

I’m powerful in glitter boots, soft voice, and an iron will that says we don’t go back.

Roll Credits, Cue Sparkles

There’s no neat ending here.

I’m still healing. Still learning. Still wondering if I can afford both filler and a flight to Canada. Still figuring out how to be 47 with the emotional experience of a teenager and the dreams of a girl who’s finally free.

But this I know:

The Chloe’s are all here now.

We’ve got each other.

And we’re not going anywhere.

PS: Superhero Chloe says we’re allowed to buy the glittery Sylvanian Families house if we save our pocket money.

We’ve earned it.

47 going on 14. Part 3: Grown Up Chloe - CEO in Glitter Boots (and a Cape)
