Can a three wheeled cargo bike fit Oxford’s cycle lanes?

Hi everyone 👋

I’m looking at purchasing a three wheeled bike, similar to a Babboe style one, mainly for the school run with my preschooler, food shopping and possibly transporting my very large dog when required. However, I need some honest local wisdom before I commit.

My big question is width. Do these chunky three wheelers actually fit in the cycle lanes around Littlemore, Cowley, Iffley and into the city centre?

I’m especially wondering about:

• Narrow painted lanes on busy roads

• Bollards and barriers on off road paths

• Those awkward pinch points where you already feel squashed on a normal bike

Are there routes that work brilliantly with a cargo trike, or areas I should absolutely avoid? If you ride one locally, I’d love to hear how you get on day to day.
