I was given the green light to start FWB as tolerated (meaning nothing above a pain level of 4) last week! I've been NWB for 9 weeks (8 weeks since surgery). I had ORIF + fusion surgery (2 plates, 10 screws, 1 staple). My injury is definitely on the severe side, my doctor even said my foot looked like a took a nutcracker to it (lol), so I know this process will be very slow, but I'm shocked at how little weight I'm able to put on my foot. It genuinely feels like walking on a bag of bones :/

I started physical therapy, and we've mainly been working on small minor exercises (i.e. towel scrunch, ankle stretches with resistance bands). I haven't been able to just stand on my foot with the boot on without instant sharp pain in random spots on my foot. I've been trying to PWB (at \~50%) with one crutch, but my whole foot becomes incredibly sore after less than 5 minutes of walking. I can put most weight on my heel with less pain, but when I begin to lean on the front, it's instant level 8+ pain. I got some CBD/THC lotion to help with the aches, which makes a small but noticeable difference!

Does anyone have any tips/tricks for the transition back to walking? What was your timeline like? I know it's a *very* long journey, but it's been so hard not to get discouraged!
