Unsurprisingly yeah this is a rant. You have absolutely zero idea how tired I am of hearing this argument. I hear so often that everything that happened with Trump and Epstein is proof that the devil is real... somehow. And that it's up to christians to "Combat the forces of darkness" or some shit like that

I was born in 2002. So while I'm not the oldest of gen z, I am older, so to say. And as someone who thoroughly remembers what a shit show the past ten years of America have been, lemme tell you something. Christians across the country damn near WORSHIPPED the dude. Growing up, I got the "You can't be a christian if you don't support Trump" message crammed down my throat. I remember seeing people wear t-shirts that said "Jesus is my lord and savior and Trump is my president". Trump's biggest supporters to this very day were always bible thumpers. And now all of a sudden we're just gonna forget that? We're just gonna pretend this NEVER happened?

You know what this reminds me of, truly? The lost cause myth. Throughout the entirety of the Civil war, all the south ever talked about was slavery. It was so very obvious that the whole ordeal was about slavery. But then, when the confederates got their asses kicked, they realized just how bad it would make them look. So they came up with a bullshit narrative that tried to convince everyone, themselves especially, that it somehow wasn't about slavery. Even John S. Mosby noticed this and commented on it

And that's what this feels like today. A modern lost cause myth. Christians loved Trump because he told them exactly what they wanted to hear, so they put all their eggs in one basket with him. And now that the whole world knows what an absolute monster he is, they're trying to sweep it under the rug and pretend that it never happened
