Splicing into couch circuit?

Hey guys, not sure if this is the place for this so let me know please.

I want to add some charging ports and convenience outlets on two sections of my couch. I’m fairly comfortable with DC circuits but haven’t done much work with AC aside from common housework.

I can only assume the circuit runs 120V and goes through a rectifier to give ~5V to switches or 24V for the motors. (I have yet to check)

The main question is:

Would it be practical, or even safe, to splice an outlet strip into the circuit?
