Mallu roots, North Indian upbringing — feeling culturally confused

I’m Malayali by roots but born and raised in North India. Grew up mostly in Hindi/English, so I sometimes feel like I’m not “Mallu enough” even though my parents are from Kerala.

As I’m getting older, I feel more connected to my Malayali side and want to understand the culture better — maybe even date a Malayali girl someday. But I’m unsure if the cultural gap would be a barrier.

How do I connect more with Malayali people outside Kerala? And would someone raised outside the state feel like a mismatch?
