My eczema journey- cured after trying Cibinqo, Dupixent and finally Opzelura

small victory

My eczema isn’t chronic, it came suddenly and severely last June and I suspect it was because I had surgery. It was so severe and widespread that doctors thought it was shingles. Biopsies determined it was eczema. I tried literally everything over the counter. Topical and oral steroids initially helped, but it wasn’t enough and I didn’t want to be on steroids forever.

I am in Canada and lucky to have access to amazing dermatologists for free. One enrolled me in a trial and got me free drugs that normally cost thousands.

Cibinqo was the first I tried from this dermatologist and it was extremely effective. However, the headaches and nausea were debilitating so I stopped, and he switched me to Dupixent injections. They did help somewhat, and with no side effects. The last area that was extremely stubborn was my lower legs. They biopsied it to confirm it didn’t convert to psoriasis, which is known to rarely cause this conversion from eczema to psoriasis. It turned out to be just eczema. He told me Opzelura is a new drug on the market which can work within 15 minutes and the first tube is free. (The tube is HUGE) I can upload some pics of the before and after of my lower legs from day 1 to day 12 which is today.

Within days, my eczema cleared up. It’s been 12 days and the lower legs are almost normal. I’m so relieved to not scratch anymore and would recommend these drugs to anyone struggling like I have. The Cibinqo gave me bad nausea but was also very effective.
