We have very hard water. Icemaker quit working a long time ago. I tried the trick of using a jumper wire to make it start again and everything seemed to work, but the ice was very small and it didn’t seem to make more

In December the water dispenser quit working completely. I changed the filter and then changed the solenoid valve myself (maybe where I went wrong?). The water pressure to the refrigerator is very strong. Maybe too strong . I didn’t test it but it looked a lot higher than what I saw on other people’s YouTube videos. But it was maybe a little slow after running through the valve or filter ? Not certain.

The water dispenser now works but the pressure is very very low. Like it starts to come out at a decent pressure and then immediately starts trickling out sideways. Like , my dispenser has a prostate issue. And I only occasionally get small pieces of ice made (we fill the hopper with bagged ice so I haven’t paid much attention)

Video attached, sorry it looks yucky, I told you we had hard water.

What is the next diagnostic step here? Instead of a reservoir this one has a big coiled tube in the fridge. It doesn’t feel frozen to me … but it also doesn’t really fill full.

Do I need to replace the filter housing? I saw people online say that they use a nylon or rubber washer or o ring for the kind of filter inside the fridge. Mine is under the freezer . I tried stuffing a paper towel behind the filter to see if more physical pressure would help and it didn’t.

Or is it possible that too much pressure at the solenoid makes less pressure move through? That doesn’t make sense to me but obviously I’m not a doctor.

Thanks for any tips .
