WIBTA if I stop donating to a dog shelter?
Since 2022, I’ve been giving donations to a dog shelter through a "sponsorship" program. Basically, I donate money every month to sponsor a specific dog, and in return, I receive photos or videos of them.
I’m certain of one thing: the people in charge truly love and care for the dogs. However, I’ve also noticed they struggle constantly with finances and health emergencies (from both the humans in charge and the dogs). Because of this, they often post about their tragedies (to call them somehow). I feel that, on one hand, this helps gain traction on social media to get the necessary resources (many shelters do this) but I also feel like they are trying to take on more than they can actually handle.
What bothers me might seem small, but it’s been getting to me lately. They don’t even say "thank you". I send payment confirmation after payment confirmation, and I get nothing back. Not to mention the lack of photos or videos of the dog.
I know they’re busy with the shelter and their most recent emergencies, but it hurts that they can't even send a quick "thanks" over chat. I know the dogs appreciate my help but the way these people manage things is a total mess.
In moments like this, I feel like stopping my donations. What do you think? Should I keep sending money or not?
Note: Adopting a dog isn't an option for me. I love animals, but I have terrible allergies.
