I (24M) feel insecure because my girlfriend (22F) drives and I don’t — am I overthinking this?
I’m in a healthy relationship and things are generally good between us. We’ve been together for about a year. My girlfriend has her own car and drives everywhere. I don’t have a driver’s license and honestly never felt the need to get one before — I’ve always managed fine without a car.
She usually drives when we go somewhere together. She never complains and doesn’t make me feel bad about it. Still, I sometimes feel awkward and insecure when she’s the one picking me up or driving us around. Part of me feels like I “should” be the one driving.
I’m independent in other areas of my life and not financially dependent on her, but this still bothers me internally.
Has anyone else felt this way? Is this just ego or social conditioning? Would you consider this a real issue or something I’m overthinking?
TLDR: My girlfriend drives and I don’t. She doesn’t mind, but I feel insecure about not being the one behind the wheel. Am I overthinking this?
