Still looking for 1st Marathon Shoe

Shoes

As the title suggests, I’m still having trouble zeroing in on what shoe I’ll wear for my first marathon (Boston 2026).

For a little background, I’m 6’2” and about 210 (so a little heavier). I have always had a fascination with shoes and so when I started running, I started buying…..a lot of them lol.

To keep it short, I’ll say that I’ve done 18 miles in the Adios Pro 4 which I found to be a little too unstable for me. I don’t think my running form is quite strong enough for these over the marathon distance as they tend to give me some Achilles and foot pain.

I’ve done 17 miles (7.5 of which were at MP of 7:45) in the Alphafly 3, and they were okay but they did give me a decent arch blister.

I’ve had great luck with fit/comfort of ASICS Novablast 5, Superblast 2 and Megablast. Would it make sense to try the Metaspeed Tokyo?

I also really love the Zoom Fly 6. And at this point if you forced me to choose, I would get another pair of Zoom Fly 6 and use them over the Alphafly 3 (strictly from a comfort perspective).

Am I overthinking this? My. Goal is going to end up being around 3:30-3:35 so I’m wondering if I even need a true super shoe or if I should just enjoy the ride with a super trainer and have the perks of comfort at the same time? Any advice is greatly appreciated!
