Wait, you guys like actually hate prime 4?
!!<Just finished the game and while sure it's not as good as prime remastered, I genuinely don't get the hate.
Firstly, why are y'all complaining about the name? Metroid prime doesnt mean it needs the metroid prime creature. We know the phazon trilogy ended in prime 3, and great games like prime hunters had no mention of phazon and I never heard nearly as much hate. There would be no reason to rename the game, prime is way more associated with 3D Metroid than the actual metroid.
Secondly, i don't understand the hate for the lack of Metroids. There are no physical metroids in dread (except you), meanwhile in prime, we see the metroids and most major bosses are fused with metroids, so the "where are the metroids?" argument just doesn't stand.
Thirdly, the NPCs seriously don't deserve any hate. The other M PTSD may hit strong for some of you, but the NPCs are all interesting and not even that annoying. Mac isn't anywhere as bad as y'all make him sound, sure hearing him tell me to return to base camp when I was looking for green energy crystals was a bit annoying (I'll get onto the desert later), but the actual interactions were all pretty fun, fighting to help him made the game that little but better beacuse Samus actually saved someone instead of like walking empty halls and and blowing up planets. Tokabi had so many interesting interactions, and Nora was an adorable fangirl, and i actually felt worried for her when she "sacrificed" herself in the great mines. Ezra wasn't my favourite but it was still nice to have someone else there. Metroid isn't always about isolation, if you want isolation just turn the volume down or go play super again. My biggest gripe with the NPCs is having to leave them all behind and being a silent protagonist (id hate to hear the commotion the fandom would make if she actually spoke though).
Fourthly (?), sol valley/ shrines/ green energy. I kinda get the hate for this, but it's personally quite enjoyed just cruising around on the bike, it reminded me of horsing around in loz botw which I loved doing. People are complaining about having to go to the shrines to get beam charges but the beams don't work like they did in prime 1! The elemental shots in this game are more like missiles, so why would they have built in charge functionality? It arguably makes them more interesting beacuse you actually have to work to zap 3 enemies at once with the charge beam. I can see the bore with the energy crystals but theyre no way near as annoying as the chozo artifacts: as long as you don't just ignorantly ride past them they're almost all gone by the time you've finished the game and by then, one can just enjoy a chill ½hour enjoying the bike (its not like you even need them all to get the memory fruit). Sure, there could've been more but why would there need to be? It's a desert full of collectibles, it's just meant to be a hub area to enjoy Vi-o-la.
Number 5: the linear-Ness.
Ok fine ill don't have an argument here you win this one.
These seem to be the main issues; but I will admit there are issues. This game could never mach prime one, but I've never played another game that has (portal 2 came a close second). This game had room to be more interesting but it's not the biggest fumble in gaming history: when you stop hating the game has room for joy, you just need to let it in and remember that this is a new game, not a re-skin of prime 1. Feel free to critique my arguments, but I give this game a solid 7 or 8/10. It looks good, it sounds good and it feels good.>!!<
