How does Skill based match-making even work in this game.

I don't get it, I have played like 20 matches in the past like 3 days and have lost like 80% of them, and I know its not me cause I either get mvp or key player all the time. I consistently do great in matches but I always get teams where they throw themselves into the enemies, don't listen to what I have to say, and just constant throwing. My last three games I was the only positive one where I was getting 15-20 kills with less than 5 deaths. Meanwhile every match i played had at least 3 people on my team going negative by a lot. While the opposite team are godly and destroy us. I just wanna enjoy this game but i always have people who feed in my matches and wont listen to any advice.
