Fanatec Wont Respond to My Emails - Can Someone Help?

Discussion

Hey everyone,

Since Fanatec support has been less responsive than a rock, I figured I’d try my luck here.

Since the launch of the Fanatec App, I’ve been experiencing several issues. These problems still persist even when I revert back to FanaLab and the Fanatec Control Panel, so I’m not convinced the app alone is the root cause. I’ve tried isolating the issue as best I can, but I’m stuck.

What I’m running

  • Wheel base: CSL DD
  • Wheel: Formula V2.5
  • Game: Le Mans Ultimate (LMU), about 99 percent of my playtime

The problems

1. Major issue (race-ending):
While racing, the wheel buttons and shift paddles completely stop working. Often the LED rev lights freeze as well. After several seconds, the Fanatec logo appears on the wheel display, and everything starts working again, almost like the wheel did a quick reset. I’m just tired of joining online races knowing I might ruin someone else’s race if my wheel glitches out.

Important detail: steering and pedals continue to work while this happens, it’s only the wheel electronics.

2. Related but less severe issue:
Sometimes, the LED revs start stuttering or freezing, followed shortly by missed shifts. This feels like a lighter version of problem #1.

3. Possibly user error (LED profiles):
In the Fanatec App, my LED profile will not reliably load. It works in LMU practice and qualifying (my custom colours and settings), but when the session transitions into a race, the profile resets to default. I can live with this if problems #1 and #2 get solved.

What I’ve tried so far

  1. Reverting back to FanaLab and Fanatec Control Panel, including older drivers. The problem persists in both apps.
  2. Trying every USB port on my motherboard, plus disabling “Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power” for all USB hubs in Device Manager.
    • This is the most recent change. In a 45-minute session, problem #1 did not occur, but problem #2 still did. Hard to say if this actually fixed anything, since I’ve had long sessions before with no issues.
  3. USB modes:
    • I’ve read that many people use PC mode (red LED), but I’ve never been able to get my wheel to function in PC mode, it doesnt show up on the Fanatec dashboard as 'connected'.
    • I’ve always used PC compatibility mode (yellow LED). I ran this way for about 1.5 years with zero issues, so I’m not convinced this alone is the cause.

At this point, I’m trying to figure out if this is:

  • A firmware issue
  • A USB or power stability issue
  • A known LMU + Fanatec interaction problem
  • Or early signs of hardware failure

If anyone has experienced something similar, especially with a CSL DD or Formula V2.5, I’d really appreciate any insight. I just want to race without wondering if my wheel is about to reboot mid-corner and ruin someones day.

Thanks in advance 🙏
