Why aren’t we getting movies like Malayalam cinema in the Kannada film industry?

I recently watched "Padakalam" and "Sarvam Maya" and both were really engaging and well made. They didn’t rely on over the top elements but still managed to be interesting and meaningful. Why don’t we see more films like this in the Kannada industry? Is it due to audience preference(D ಬೂಸಾ ಅಭಿಮಾನಿಗಳು), market pressure🧐 Or is it just our subconscious bias that makes us think Malayalam movies are better?
