So this is Tuna, he (definitely intact male) has been roaming the apartment complex my husband and I live at. We are 99.9% certain he is a stray, we’ve asked tons of others, even the complex manager and everyone has said it’s a stray. That being said, it’s more on the well fed side for a stray.

What we need advice on is this: our complex only allows for ESAs. They do not permit pets and are only allowing the stray to be here as long as no one complains. If that happens, they’ll call animal control and it will most likely be euthanized as the shelters here are full. But, Tuna (as we have named him) probably wouldn’t qualify as an ESA and I’m not sure how to even go about getting the proper paperwork. Plus, the rules and regulations around ESAs are extremely strict, and they can outright deny your request if the ESA letter doesn’t fit all the parameters.

We’ve been feeding him once per night (he may show up, he may not) sometimes he slides into the apartment if we leave the door open, but he’s extremely skittish and will bolt at the slightest movement. We also know we’re not the only people feeding him, and have talked to others so we can try to work something out. More or less, I have a soft spot for animals, cats in particular and I wish I could adopt him and give him all the love he could ever want, but because of the ESA policy, I can’t or don’t know how I would. Do you guys have any advice for this? We’re probably only going to be at this apartment for another 10 months.
