evil rural school makes poor student geeked about gpas
my school does a percent conversion for unweighted gpas. this means a 100 would be a 4.0, 95 would be a 3.5, 90 would be a 3.0, and so on. unfortunately for me, this means that despite me maintaining nearly perfect a's (i got a 92 my second sem of jr year in an honors anatomy and physiology class </3, and at my bum ass school, a's are 93s and above) throughout my entire hs career, my uw gpa was at a low 3.8 when i initially applied. i also got a 90 in my ap physics class first sem of my sr year, which dropped my uw to a high 3.7 when i sent out my mid-year transcripts. my weighted gpa was a high 4.3 when i first applied and is currently a low 4.4 right now.
from what i can tell, uw gpas at this range typically indicate multiple b's. i'm kind of concerned because i applied to some pretty competitive schools and got deferred from an ivy this december. i doubt aos will be committing to deep dives into my application when they see my gpa, which worries me as i'd hate for these institutions to think that i am not equipped to handle their rigor.
i'm already at a bit of a disadvantage due to being rural and not having access many opportunities, so my profile is by no means padded. is this something i should be contacting my counselors about/the schools i applied to for further context?
