A Spring Without Birdsong 'Francis Duggan'

To nature the wild feathered minstrels belong

And the world would be poorer to live in without the birds of song

Due to habitat destruction and climate change birds are becoming rare

A sad enough thing of for to be aware

The songs of the birds a natural source of joy

In every grove many songbirds when i was a boy

But what used to be is not so today

A sad enough thing to realize for to say

Nature's feathered minstrels of Spring sing at sunset and sunrise

Some birds by their song not hard to recognize

Due to human industry in the world of today

Less bushes and trees for birds to roost and nest in the price we do pay

A Spring without birdsong how sad this would be

To even contemplate unpleasant would you not agree?
