St. Frangelico Cathedral Chapel

So I'm at St. Frangelico Cathedral Chapel I've been trying to navigate and get to alidaro for 2 hours but every guide just pretty much cuts to them being where he is. Do I have to kill the big carcass with the shield/club arm or do I have to go to the floor where I pushed the fire thing down to?
