[F4F] I keep hearing about this disturbing trend among women
I've always been proud of being the kind of woman who doesn't take anyone's shit. I'm not interested in people rationalizations of their bad behavior, and I'm the type to call it out anywhere and anytime that I see it. It's always been important to me to recognize and appreciate how hard we've all had to work to get where we are now, in the present and in the past, too. Nothing has ever been handed to us for free, which makes it all the more important to defend it. We all need to be aware of how fragile it all is, how easily it could all come tumbling down.
That's why I'm so horrified about this trend I keep seeing among women of fantasizing about giving everything up and returning to this dark past of patriarchy. It seems like half the time I'm scrolling through something online, there's another woman talking about how she chose to give up on feminist ideals. That she'd rather stay home than work, that having children is the most important thing in her life, that her needs and priorities come second. Every time I hear or see "tradwife" or "a woman's place" or "gender traitor" I want to throw up in my mouth. It's so disappointing that so many are falling into this trap as though we've learned nothing and shouldn't fight tooth and nail to cling to every single thing we have.
Have any other women been running to this same trend everywhere? I simply can't understand it, and I need to know that there are others on my side, who see how disturbing this trend is. Do any of you know why it's happening, what it's about, and why it seems like it keeps appearing everywhere?
If so, please do send me a chat and let me know. It feels like this is an important thing for us to be talking about. Surely intelligent, conscientious women with pride in their feminism couldn't ever be won over to the other side.
