4th trimester

Had an antenatal class today and we spoke about the 4th trimester. There was a couple there who were the only parents to be a second time around so not their first rodeo!

To be honest, their experience was useful, but they spoke about being in bed the entire three months post giving birth!

I think this horrified first time couples a bit.

Questions are - how accurate is this? I am 31 weeks and just fed up of the symptoms of pregnancy now and looking forward to getting back on my feet. I know I’m not totally naive to it being hard but the idea of 3 months in bed when Spring and Summer are on the way after quite a dismal winter we’re having just seems like a light at the end of the tunnel.

I know we’ll be sacrificing our old ways of living but surely you can go out and live a little or is it really the trenches?

How are you all planning to proceed 3 months postpartum?
