Aftermath
It's yet another morning
Its silent, peaceful hand on my throat
And I miss that time
Back when I was yet to know that panic is a luxury
Giving up was still a crime
Edges of death still beautiful
I held shards of ice in my hands and I could see your reflection
Features so sharp, they cut me when we kissed
Leaning over the railing
Panic, you said, made me beautiful
It's all gotten old now, I could laugh
When water runs along my fingertips, drips from the bracelets on my wrists
Your face, melted
Lukewarm and unclear
All I can do is learn to love this version of you
And my own reflection, twisted and foreign
But still unscathed
There's time to learn to love it too
But how much time is needed to teach oneself to fear again?
