I finally fixed my skincare routine and my skin actually glows now
For years I barely paid attention to skincare. Then I hit my 30s and started noticing dullness, uneven texture, and fine lines on my forehead. I wasn’t ready for Botox, so I decided to build a simple, affordable routine I could realistically stick to.
After a lot of trial and error, I finally found something that works. My skin looks brighter, smoother, and consistently hydrated my partner even comments on the glow now.
Morning:
• Gentle cleanser
• Vitamin C serum
• Broad-spectrum SPF
Night:
• Gentle cleanser
• Retinol
• Rich moisturizer
Once a week: I skip retinol and use salicylic acid instead to exfoliate and clear pores.
I have sensitive skin, so I focused on fragrance-free, barrier-friendly products. The specific products matter less than the categories, but for reference these worked well for me:
• gentle foaming cleanser
• gentle vitamin C derivative (non-irritating)
• lightweight daily SPF
• low-strength beginner retinol
• rich hydrating moisturizer
• BHA exfoliant
I did go through about a 6–8 week retinol purge, but sticking with it made a huge difference.
Biggest things I learned:
• introduce retinol slowly (2–3 nights a week at first)
• SPF every single morning
• hydration matters more than actives
Keeping it simple and consistent helped way more than constantly trying new products.
