41 M scheduled for RTKR on March 16. I’ve been dealing with my world shrinking for years and years. Had scopes done on both knees in 2022 due to torn meniscus.
Surgeon told me my knees looked like they were 80 years old and needed to be replaced. He didn’t want to do that until 15-20 years down the road because I’m too young.
Had injections which helped until last October when it only worked for about a weekend. Then decided to get a second opinion. I’ve also got young children that i want to run around with so the thought of missing those tests with them was a heavy weight to bear.
New doc says he’ll do it. Robotic assisted both knees getting done but only scheduled the right as it’s worse, but the drive is 2.5 hours.
Anyone have to drive that far for surgery? I’m a little worried that the swelling will get out of control without being able to elevate toes above nose on the drive home.
Anyway it’s been a big help looking through all of your posts and advice and recommendations on what to prepare for. I’m nervous for the first few weeks but have a great support with my wife being at home and still getting paid with disability insurance through my employer and am just ready to get the healing started.
Wish me luck and I’ll bring y’all on my journey as others Journeys were very helpful to me deciding on what course of action to take.
