long hauler (16 hours 😭)

This community has been a game changer for me and I often pull it up while I’m having extreme anxiety on flight and it’s sort of the only thing that can sort of calm me down. Thank you to everyone who contributes.

I developed this terrible anxiety after a pretty scary turbulence experience a few years ago and have tried to deploy every tip possible to no real avail. I’ve watched every video, every tip about the jello theory, yet as soon as turbulence begins I freak out and think the worst is going to happen.

Today I am flying on the Emirates A380 airbus (LA to Dubai, and then eventually on to Mumbai - 23 hours of total travel 😭) and I’m trying to remember all the things: huge plane, plenty of safety precautions, etc but the length of the flight makes me spiral as well as the fact that we fly over the Arctic Circle. Turbulence on such a long flight makes me feel trapped and even more out of control.

Going to try to take something (which I’m often fearful to even take) but anyone have any other tips or reassurances? A friend of mine suggested telling a flight attendant I’m like this and maybe just having them to check in with often? I wish I could just wish this anxiety away!
