Youfibre - so many excuses for why my install was cancelled
Context, I was due an install last week, which was unexpectedly cancelled. The door to door salesman came to me directly to ask if I was interested, which implies I was able to be connected.
To note, I am directly opposite a telegraph pole. The next two telegraph poles to the left have been used to connect other houses to fibre.
The day before the install it was cancelled after the linesman did a survey.
So far the excuses I have had from two customer service representatives:
- It was unsafe to install
- The overhead cable height was insufficient
- The pole distance to the property was 75 metres (this is key as they gave a specific distance as measured by the engineer)
- The pole opposite my house wasn't supported by them
At this point I asked which pole they measured from.
- I was told the specific pole and the only one I can be connected to is over 500 metres away and it is the only pole that carries the service to connect me.
I've since gone back as, suddenly this pole isn't 75 metres away, but 400+. I've also pointed out two separate houses between that pole and my property have been connected to different poles, so how is it the only pole anyone can be connected to is 400 metres away, when two other poles at least 100 metres away aren't valid?
While yes, those poles aren't valid. It implies the fibre isn't limited to one pole they specified.
I have no idea why I cannot get a straight answer from them as to why they won't install, but there is so much inconsistency in their reasoning.
Has anyone else had such a nightmare of an install with them? I'm just waiting to go to the ombudsman at this point, doubt I'd want to go with them even if they realise it is possible at this point.
