Why does epic lie about there being skill based matchmaking?

I play max 2-3 games a day to get few xp to finish battle passes, but every single time i get put into lobbies of lifeless sweats that i have absolutely no chance to play against. I'm lucky if i get into top 20, but even then I get lasered down from 200 to 0 in below a second.

There definitely isn't anything like sbmm in other games, that actually take into account your activity and performance during games, but why does epic keep lying about it?
