Dungeon mode question!

Sup yall so just downloaded the dlc and with some help from the internet was able to figure out how to start ng+ and I want to try dungeon mode. Im seeing to start it i have to get to Edwin and defeat him for the hook is that true ? Isn't Edwin a few hours into the game? Thanks !
