Google satellite images got worse over time

No speculation, it’s just true. All online satellite imaging services got crappy over time. In 2008 or 2009 Bing maps had a feature called Birdseye and you could use it to look at very secret secure military installations and various sites. Not sure if the images were obtained via satellite or aircraft but wow could you really zoom in and see what was happening on the ground. The whole of the U.S. just about every urban area was covered and then POOF Gone! Google maps even crapped up their regular satellite images so that a lot of places look like blurred pixelated vomit. Can anybody point to legislation or a corporate memo for why this happened. There was little talk about the switch over whenever it happened. I mean I get why they did, it was a very useful intelligence gathering tool and it was online and free.
