How do I generate long-form videos automatically in n8n workflows?
Trying to automate a faceless YT channel in n8n without babysitting edits for hours. Anyone cracked long-form video generation that’s actually hands-off? Here’s what worked for me using Scrptly’s AI Video-Agent (it’s built for longer vids, not just 30s clips):
- Install the Scrptly community node (n8n-nodes-scrptly). Grab it via Settings > Community Nodes. Source is here: https://github.com/ybouane/n8n-nodes-scrptly
- Add creds: create a Scrptly API key on https://scrptly.com/ and plug it into the node credentials.
- Basic workflow:
- Trigger: Cron (daily/weekly) or Webhook.
- Content source: Google Sheets/Notion/Airtable for topics + talking points.
- Build prompt: include length (e.g., 8–12 min), 16:9, tone, VO style, chapters, and any recurring characters/brand notes. Add Context Images URLs for character/product consistency.
- Scrptly node: set Prompt + Context Images. Set Approve Up To (token budget) higher for longer videos (e.g., 12–18k). Turn on “Wait For Completion” if you want the file back in one go.
- Post-process: upload to Drive/S3/R2, then YouTube Upload node. Optionally send a thumbnail task downstream.
Notes that saved me:
- Reuse the same context images for series, it keeps faces/locations consistent, which matters a lot over 10+ mins.
- If you turn off Wait For Completion, store the task id and poll later; more parallel, less blocking.
- Add an Error Trigger to retry failed runs, because of course something will blip mid-worklfow.
This setup has been way less flaky than stitching tools, ngl.
