What Pokémon game do you think is the best overall - and why?

I’ve played several Pokémon games over the years, and I’m curious what the community thinks is the best overall. Is it a game with the most engaging story, the strongest battle mechanics, or perhaps some other factor? Personally, I loved Fire Red because of the nostalgia and fantastic pokedex, but I’d love to hear which game stands out to you and why. Are remakes better than originals, or do classics still hold the crown? Feel free to share examples and reasoning!

Also im starting Pokemon Ruby to see how that goes...
