TSP a hard Withdrawal advice
I have had a short stent with the federal government. I only have about $55,000 in my TSP account. I will retire in 5 yrs at 65 which is the end of the term I’m under. I would like to take out $10,000 in a hardship withdrawal to take care of some bills. I had money in savings, but I’ve been helping my daughter who was out of work for a while. My TSP will account for about 30% of my retirement. I know the downfall of taking the withdrawal is a big hit to my balance and I may not be able to contribute for six months or maybe that rule doesn’t apply because I’m 60 years old. What are your thoughts?
