Tips to keep sane in the beginning?
We are having a very rocky start to our breastfeeding journey. Baby screams and often just drinks for a few minutes before becoming inconsolable I cry and feel like a failure. Lactation consultant says that some babies are just like this, they take two steps forward and one step back but if we push through it’ll get easier. For those of you who had a start like mine and found success how did you make it through? I’m trying to get through by telling myself it’s only temporary but I feel so alone. My partner doesn’t understand why this is hurting me so much and oscillates between asking me why I’m “sitting around feeling sorry for myself and if it’s making me unhappy to just quit” or saying I’m not trying hard enough when I give up and warm up a bottle after struggling with a screaming baby. I can’t talk or my family because both my sister and mother had super easy breastfeeding journeys and don’t even understand why anyone would ever need to supplement with formula.
