quick shortcut to automatically connect to headphones and shuffle music

this may be a pretty niche issue of mine, but if you’re anything like me, sometimes i’m juggling a lot of tasks and just want to quickly put on some music and have them play on my airpods. well it isn’t the quickest to do that, because sometimes it might be hard to get to my playlist, or my headphones will just randomly disconnect. i made a shortcut to quickly just do all of this for me.

how it works:

* sends connection request to headphones

* double checks they’re actually connected with actions

* shuffles music from apple music.

the shortcut is really beginner friendly because all customization like setting the device you want and picking the music you want is done through the setup questions feature in shortcuts.

there’s one con with that one above: it only checks if you aren’t playing off your device’s speakers. i did this because to make it check if you are connected explicitly to the device you want requires going into the shortcut itself and changing the check action to the name of your headphones.

if you care, here’s another variant to make it so it’ll check if it’s connected to the audio device.

just remember, change the name inside the shortcut to the name of your audio device.
