Roadhouse 02 is an open wound..
If you’ve ever loved someone to the point of it changing everything about you- you’d understand the heartbreak that is Roadhouse 02. For me, Roadhouse 02 is the realization after a manic episode. The sudden introspection, the self reflection. You think you can run from the heartbreak- mask it with drugs, sex, alcohol. You put up a front, change everything about yourself, protect yourself in what way you know how to.. but they’re still gone and it *still hurts*. “Rider” feels extremely personal to listen to, like a yearning. It’s that feeling that something is wrong, but it’s unspoken. The want to do more, to be what they want you to be. And then “Brother” reminds me of the rebounds. Throwing your heart to whoever will take it because you need something, anything to give you worth. But it’s draining.. having someone throw their emotions on you knowing it’s not really reciprocated. And then the album ends on “Fixing Sandwiches” which is the spiral. Knowing you’re still in love, knowing it’s not what they want, but stuck in that loop.
Now I could be reading these songs entirely wrong, but that’s the vibes I get based on my personal experiences- this album emotionally wrecks me 💔
