Friend is using her mental illness, and its driving me insane.

one of my friends is using her mental illness as an excuse and its driving me insane.

I'm in my mid 30ties, and I have a friend group of similar age. One of them, let's call her Girl, is recently diagnosed with autism and ADHD, and is using that diagnosis with everything. When she doesn't understand something, she says it's because of her autism. When someone is in a hyperactive mood, she would say she knows how it feels because of her ADHD. Every time our group meets, the topic always gets eventually centered towards her diagnosis. To the point that she sometimes even says things out of line, blaming it on her autism, bringing attention to herself.

A while back, I was in a very hard time in my life, where I lost my best friend to euthanasia (who is not part of the friend group). To get my mind off things, the group decided to play some board games, where Girl made a dark joke about unaliving yourself. When I said it wasn't funny, she blamed it on not being able to read the room because of her autism

I have been diagnosed with BPD for over 15 years and never even brought it up (exept for now), because the thought of even glorifying it is just sickening to me. Yet her family are prouldy praising her for her 'braveness". I honestly don't care about her diagnosis in the sense that she has it, but it should not define her entire personality. I have seen a change since the diagnosis.

i just don't know how to go on with this friendship, and i know I'm not the only one bothered by it. Every time we try to talk about it or ANYTHING confrontational, she cries and states we don't like her. But that will happen if it goes on like this.

Am i a bad friend by not supporting her enough? should I confront her? What should i do?
