I hear that regional centers help out parents. More importantly there is a “self-determination” type of program as well? Anyone familiar with it?

Helping out some friends who need help with their children and more importantly getting a way to get access to help. Curious if I’m going the right direction. They mentioned getting help from regional centers, but they’re a bit hesitant with applying because of lack of knowledge with regards to these entities, so trying to encourage them to just call and see what they have that could help.
