Why are outdoor cat owners considered irresponsible?

I’ve always been confused about this debate.

Personally I would rather have freedom, enrichment & exercise than forced to be locked away in a dull environment.

I understand outdoor cats are less likely to live as long but humans would probably have longer life expectancies too if we were kept in a controlled safe environment however it would be incredibly boring.

Indoor cats tend to be unhealthy due to overweight issues, on the other hand outdoor cats harm natural wildlife.

I don’t think either owners are bad but I’ve always been curious as to why outdoor cat owners get so much hate.
